The first seasons of Rescue me are excellent. In my opinion, the last season was very static and didn't really do anything as dramatic in the first few seasons.

Shield, Rescue Me, Damages...three of the best. Sons of Anarchcy sounds pretty cool too. FX seems to be better than HBO at original series now.

I don't know why The Shield doesn't get more awards. Not to start a war here, but is there any scene on The Sopranos or any other critics' darlings that beat the here's-a-sandwich...oh-and-a-g renade-in-your-lap-for-dessert -scene on The Shield?

so wait

Does this mean Nip/Tuck will be on hiatus until 2011? or that we'll see a steady stream of seasons ending in 2011?

Love that show.

And it's a shame about The Riches. After a promising first season, loads of cast talent, etc., the show just utterly lost its way. Having the family mired down in that gated community may well have been the problem since it's not really sustainable, especially when the clan and it's sub-culture was the most interesting thing the show had going. I would have preferred a show of the family on the road doing their thing. Too bad.

The Shield did get some awards its first season

And then it was like critics forgot it was on or something--which is weird because it was consistently more compelling than The Sopranos, Lost, etc. Only Deadwood seems to rival it for sheer quality shows and great acting.

Minnie Driver is 6-7 months pregnant and cannot come back to the USA for filming until the end of the year. Eddie Izzard is busy with tons of other film work. Oh well, these things happen.

Rescue Me lost steam last year, but the mini-episodes this summer are funny, and it will return for 20+ episodes in early 2009. Other than youtube, who is posting the mini-eps online? Thanks.------later------m

I still find nip/tuck entertaining, but the plotlines have gone way past ridiculous. They should probably take a cue from the Shield and end it when its time I'd really like to see another season of the Riches though. The second season got cut short . Definitely the craziest thing about this announcement is Michael J Fox's new part. I can't imagine where their going with that.

Nip/Tuck was a great show. The operative word here is "was." The first 3 seasons rocked. Season 4 had a few good storylines but the main ones were crap. But at the very least it had a satisfying ending that brought them full circle. Then came the most recent season, which was TOTAL CRAP! There were one or two cool moments and then the rest blew. By the end, I hardly watched it and said I was officially done with the show. They really, really jumped the shark at this point. As for Damages, kinda think it'd be better for Frobiger to be dead but that show rocks, so I'll go with it. I'm sure they'll have a good way of bringing him back. Maybe he'll help Ellen to bring down Patty.

I always had a little fear in my heart regarding It's Always Sunny. I always thought It'd get cancelled. It's one of the funniest shows on TV and it deserves the push to 2011. It's about time to cancel Nip/Tuck. It's great and all, but c'mon, enough of these fucking guys smirking and being assholes, just enough. Damages looks like it might have a really badass season 2. I dug season 1, but I thought it was a big laborious to watch. I'm stoked for the new season. I watched the first season of the Riches, but the story is so awful that I couldn't bring myself to watch season 2. You'd think the acting would make the silly story a little more believable, but nah, it sucks. The Shield has been really good and I'm pumped for the final season. Never saw Rescue Me, but everyone tells me it's good. That's that.

For some reason, there was an avalanche of shit talking about how the Wire was so much better but to be honest, I think the Shield simply explores more interesting themes and characters. The Wire is a great show but it essentially explores the good and the bad while in contrast the Shield gives us some truly conflicted and fucked up people who are neither wholly black nor white but rather a sad mixture of greys. Rarely, in any medium, has a character as compelling and complex as Vic Mackey ever been realized and despite his many sins he's somebody I keep rooting for because there is something raw and uncompromised about his ethics, however warped. Also, Nip/Tuck has sucked for the last two years and needs to go away before they completely nullify the quality of the first three seasons. Damages is awesome however and Rescue Me is always good for some fun.

And the last season was just as compelling as the rest. There was a fair amount of character development in the last season, my the character shifts is what people have a beef with. All the characters look fatter too. Three best shows on TV are probably The Shield, Damages, and Rescue me. In that order IMO. Although Damages has just started out, its le simply a great show, Ted Danson blew me away, couldn't believe it.

fixate on penises borders on the ridiculous. Tommy's erectile dysfunction, the supposed size of the new Chief's member, etc. And much like the revolving door of lovely (but ultimately screwed up) women, that Tommy beds, this show tends to think more with its dick than its head. Maybe thats the whole theme.

Congrats to Sunny...whatever happened to that supposed "contest" that the chief of programming advertised to submit taped suggestions/pilots/show ideas for a possible shot of a series ala Sunny a few years back? Did I dream that?

Fantastic show. Probably my favourite, along with Dexter. Just recently finished season one on DVD. I'd say ultimately, Glenn Close was just as much of a villain as Ted Danson. That final scene on the pier is excellent... Loved the choice of music as Rose Byrne walks away. I'm looking forward to seeing what direction it all takes with the next season.

to worship Dennis Leary a little too much, this is one of my main gripes. The Shield feels more composed than the Wire. The Wire just feels very organic and very naturalistic. The Wire is far more complex, with more characters and plot arcs. The Shield on the otherhand is lean . Hard to say which one I prefer, I really love both, but i might have to give it to the Wire. Every season of the Wire was ambitious, the makers fearless in their direction.

It's deserved, granted the third season started off rocky. I hope that since they're now all developing/writing a second series, their attention isn't split and Sunny suffers.

I'm having a hard time finishing the first season. The show started off great but the entire gated community thing is already tiresome. A show of them just going around, stealing shit, and dealing with gypsy politics would've been fascinating. The gated community stuff could've been ONE season. It's a good storyline that has gone on too long and just feels like cement shoes even before the first season is done.

Did you seriously just list Olyphant's credit as Live Free Die Hard? Maybe you're not aware but he also played this character named Seth Bulloch on some critically acclaimed show. I think it was called Deadwood?
