Hey folks, Harry here… This week’s DVD column is coming to you early. Yoko and I are off to parts untold to celebrate our Paper Anniversary – So on Anniversaries of this sort one should present a present made of paper – so I’ve gotten Yoko a trip to a place where she needs additional paper. I won’t share with the world because the last thing I want is to be constantly swarmed with well wishers and congratulatory folks – heh – but as a result, I’ll be damned if I’m going to touch my computer on this Anniversary. SO – I had to get this column done for you good folks. There isn’t really a ton of stuff this week – but next weeks looks to be stronger. Till then, this is what I got. BIRDS OF PREY: THE COMPLETE SERIES

Ok – the show isn’t very good. In fact – it pretty much kinda blows – but I’m a sucker for funky superhero shit. And on a week where we’re getting a great HELLBOY movie and apparently a great DARK KNIGHT movie… well, here we go, why not realize how much better it is than this!

THE BANK JOB

One of the early wonderful films of the year & one of the best flicks made by Roger Donaldson. Jason Statham is very good in this movie – but me… I could watch the film for Saffron Burrows all by herself. She’s yummy. If you missed this in theaters, but love old fashioned caper flicks that twist and turn and amuse to no end. Well – this is one of those. Enjoy.

STEP UP 2 THE STREETS

Ok – I know what you’re thinking. Harry is one pussy-whipped mutherfucker. That said, MAN! Briana Evigan does this ass tremble and shake that will have your cock thinking about the happy torture that it would inflict upon it. Also – Briana Evigan should play “the cheerleader’s” lost sister on HEROES. Seriously – she’s totally Hadyn’s evil sis. Evil cuz she’d be sooooo good. The film is corny as hell – cheesy as fuck – but ya know it’s pretty awesome too. That end out door in the rain dance is improbable as hell, but fun and stylistic as hell.

ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST

One of the greatest movies of all time. Has anyone ever played a better cunt than Louise Fletcher’s Nurse Ratched? And just how brilliant was Jack Nicholson’s Randle McMurphy? Winner of Best Picture, Actor, Actress, Screenplay and Director. And now it’s captured exquisitely for home enjoyment. Personally my favorite character in the film is Chief Bromden… and that moment… you know it. I love that moment. So good. So fricken good.

TRAFIC – Criterion Collection

Are you an autophile? You love cars? How about crazy fucking cars? Well this film has the most outstanding camper in the history of mankind. This is a crazy funny movie – and the word crazy is what I think of it. It’s all about the creation of this awesome Camper and the quest to place it in an Auto Show in Amsterdam to enter it for his employer. Hijinks ensue. Very fun film by Jacques Tati – and part of that Monsieur Hulot series of comedies. Criterion has done a great job of putting this disc together.

SWAMP THING: THE SERIES Vol 2

You know – at some point someone is gonna make a truly great SWAMP THING movie. Till then, I’ll make do with Wes Craven’s flick and this series. It’s not a great series, but it had its moments – mainly due to Dick Durock, who was pretty outstanding in the suit as SWAMP THING. Yea! MAN IN SUIT!

NEW ADVENTURES OF THE LONE RANGER/ZORRO Vol 2

Was I the only one of us that tuned in to watch this cartoon series every Saturday morning? Btw… remember when that meant something? Fucking kids today… Remember when you had to rush home after school to catch perhaps a 1 hour block of cartoons… and then that glorious Saturday morning when you had 3 channels that ran 3-4 hour blocks of cartoon goodness? Fucking awesome days. Now – all these goddamn spoiled brats with their whole cartoon network and Disney channels. Fuck them. They’re spoilt rotten. We had to play outside because there wasn’t shit on TV to watch. And we’d play stuff like LONE RANGER and ZORRO cuz we had those cartoons – and not insane baby shit with baby characters, but role models we wanted to fucking grow up to be. Like THE LONE RANGER and ZORRO and FLASH GORDON and shit. Fucking kids these days…

THE FABULOUS JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH (aka WHERE TIME BEGAN)

Ya know… Even this 1970’s Spanish Co-Production that cost $2 million 1970s dollars is better than the one that just came out. I’d forgotten this one – but luckily I get sent this dvd and man… I saw this as a kid. Sure – the Dinosaurs aren’t all that… but they also don’t look like cartoons. This film is, in many ways, the most faithful to Verne’s novel – which isn’t exactly totally faithful and takes liberties – as you can guess looking at the cover art… but ya know what? It’s still totally worth the $10 it takes to get it!

SECRETARY

This is, essentially, the exact same thing as the previously released version – with a new cover – and released to coincide with Maggie Gyllenhaal giant introduction to the entire world as the girl that tickles Batman and Two-Face’s fancies. And man – if you haven’t seen SECRETARY – go get your kink on. This movie will give you a roadmap for how to live your BCD life. This movie will make you wish you had learned all those knots they were trying to teach you in Boy Scouts. And you folks scoff at my Eagle Scout status. Bah.
