We’ll finally see the 30-minute finale, taped Tuesday, on Comedy Central 8 p.m. Saturday. But, oy, what a mess!

NBC garnered huge audiences with the Emmy-nominated “Last Comic Standing” two summers in a row, then rashly decided to slap together a third, quickie version for this autumn, which wobbled badly against “NCIS,” among other new competition.

Then the final episode, which would have revealed the third-season champ, did not air! On the last NBC episode, the field was narrowed to John Heffron, Bodden, Vos (!) and Mordal (who finally and deservedly conquered the far perkier more photogenic Dat Phan!). Then this week – no this week!

NBC suddenly substituted bonus episodes of their troubling “Father of the Pride” cartoon, which apparently did no better than recent airings of “LCS” in the 8 p.m. time slot.

Whether a fourth season of “LCS” will return to NBC or Comedy Central next summer is still in question.
