The Shropshire Slasher Says HOOD OF HORROR Is Def Fo' Sheezy!!

Merrick approves…

Snoop Dog as “the MC of Hell”?

“It's the first "studio quality" horror film I've seen in a long time that is unapologetic in its offensiveness and blood splattered gore”?

I am so there… despite a lamentable “shortage of boobies!” …

Here’s The Shropshire Slasher…

What up beeyatches ... want some ninja shit ... here ya go ...

Just got home from a private screening of Snoop Dogg's "Hood of Horror" (nice security ...suckers). When I first heard that Snoop Dogg was starring in another fright flick I said to myself "great, another urban "Bones" like shizzfest ... can't this guy stick to selling sidekicks and smokin' herb."

I had braced myself for a total freakin' crapfest filled with cliche ghetto characters and withered old premises. But in fairness, I have to say it was pretty cool. It's the first "studio quality" horror film I've seen in a long time that is unapologetic in its offensiveness and blood splattered gore. Nothing like seeing a 6'10" brother get his brains impaled on a 40oz bottle of malt liquor.

It's sick, funny and fun. It also features some very cool Anime. I am not a big fan of rap, but if you like that kind of stuff you should dig it as Snoop does the title song.

Snoop is awesome as the MC of hell. Perhaps his finest work since those porn flicks and redeems himself from "Bones". He was right at home as the straight man to all the craziness going on around him. And his hos were very hot (I'm sure Joe Francis and him probably picked them out from a "Girls Gone Wild" club party). I wouldn't mind seeing some sequels with him.

Drawbacks include a shortage of boobies (just 2 or 4 from what I saw), some phoned in performances (Billy Dee ... wake up please), a bit too much preachiness (we get it ... drugs are bad) and editing that was a bit too fast at times.

Check out the guy who plays Tex Woods Jr. (Anson Mount from the NBC's "Conviction"). This guy is so damn funny that I couldn't even believe it was that straight laced D.A. guy until my girlfriend pointed it out. It's one of those performances on par with Slim Pickens in "Blazing Saddles" and fellow TV drama vet Christopher Meloni's unrecognizable turn as "Freakshow" in "Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle"). Hot babe Brande Roderick (who I think was on "Baywatch") also steals the show as his dingy girlfriend who he throws to the dogs (literally, you'll have to see ... no spoilers here). She is soooo hot that I would eat grapes out of her shit if I could cop a feel of those gorgeous sweater meats.

Another solid performance was from Aries Spears (you know, the guy who plays Shaq on "Mad TV"). I don't know where this cat has been hiding out, but he's got that Martin Lawrence/Eddie Griffin type appeal that should have him toplining films. He was hillarious as the dead zombie rapper who returns from the grave to teach his old partner a lesson.

I hate rap music and I loathe cliche urban horror films, so for me to give this film "props" is saying a lot. The soundtrack at times was a bit too aggressive, but it actually helped pull you into the film. It's a balls out, MTV type film with lots of cool gore FX and some of the best one liners you've heard in years such as my favorite "It's expensive to be black".
