Ahoy, squirts! Quint here... and I have to admit. I love the original LAKE PLACID. It's not even in the "guilty pleasure" area. I geniunely love the movie. Bill Pullman, Oliver Platt, Brendan Gleeson and hotty-hot-hot Bridget Fonda... not to mention Betty White's awesome vulgarity... make that movie an instant cult classic to me. I realize it isn't THE GODFATHER, but I proudly put it next to Dante's PIRANHA or the Robert Forster starring, John Sayles scripted ALLIGATOR on the DVD shelf.
I got the heads up on a sequel that's in the works. No returning cast (it seems) and a Son of Bond... spells direct to video. Pity, but I'll always have my original on DVD. Who can forget the toe scene? "Is this the man that was killed?" "He seemed... taller." C'mon! That's awesome... Anyway, here's the heads up that I got on the sequel. Enjoy:
I doubt you have much interest in this but apparently they are making a sequel to Lake Placid. I know someone who works for an effects shop and he said he was doing some makeup tests right now for Lake Placid 2.
The biggest name he mentioned was Jason Connery (Sean Connery's son). Apparently he gets his throat cut somehow, because the task on him was to create a prosthetic Adam's apple that could be used to sustain damage, bleed etc.
He was also told that he is gong to be working on making some fake Crocodiles.
I don't know much more at this time, but I would almost guess that this is a a straight to DVD movie. Based mostly on the cast I have heard about and the rough estimate of the budget I have formulated based on some of the information.
I have not read any news on any site about this movie yet, so I don't know what it is worth or who is interested but they are doing a sequel.
If you do use this I would rather not have my name used. In fact, can you just say it was A Spy...
